I CONFIRM THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OUTLINED BELOW AND THAT I AGREE WITH AND ACCEPT ALL OF THE CLAUSES CONTAINED THEREIN. I CERTIFY THAT ALL THE INFORMATION ON THE ENTRY FORM IS TRUE AND CORRECT TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE.

  • PERSONAL DETAILS OF CANDIDATE WRITING EXAMS:
    • Must match their national ID, Valid passport, or Birth certificate.
    • The Candidate will be liable for any charges to correct the statement of entry due to incorrect information provided.
    • The only means of communication with the Candidate will be through e-mail, which the Exam Centre will use to give out information about exam dates and the venue addresses.
    • The Candidate must check their e-mails frequently.
    • All LIA students must register as full-time students and not as private candidates.
  • REGISTRATION OF EXAM SUBJECTS:
    • Always ensure that the syllabus specifications and exam paper components are correct.
    • To avoid scheduling conflicts and to avoid enrolling in subject combinations that are not permitted by Cambridge regulations, the Candidate must ensure that they are registered for the correct subjects and subject combinations.
    • If the identification of a private candidate cannot be authenticated on the day of the examination, Lonehill International Academy Examination Center ZA253 reserves the right to prevent the Candidate from taking the examinations.
    • Applicable to retake examinations only (“rewrite examinations”):
      • Candidates who are required to retake exams must make certain to choose the appropriate subject for the retake. Candidates must upload their previous statement of entry to qualify for a retake examination. Those who are not qualified for retake exams but have still registered for them will have their registrations invalidated, and an administration fee will be imposed for this erroneous registration. Moreover, in these cases, the retake exam registration will be canceled.
  • PAYMENT AND FEES:
    • REGISTRATION FEES:
      • Only online payments via PayFast on our website will be accepted as payment for exam registrations.
      • CAIE exam fees paid are not refundable after the final payment registration deadline.
      • The exam centers’ decision in this regard will be complete and final.
      • The set minimum subjects fees include the exam papers from Cambridge, marking, certificates, packaging, courier, invigilation, storage, fuel levy and other related costs.
      • Courier charges are included but are subject to increases in the fuel levy.
      • A portion of exams fees are based on current rand/pound exchange rates and are subject to increase when there are fluctuations in excess of 15%.
      • Lonehill International Academy Students will not be allowed to register for any CAIE examination/s if the school fee account is not paid up to date. Students can also be deregistered at any time should the account fall into arrears after registration for any CAIE examination series. Any payments made for CAIE examination/s can be allocated against outstanding school fees at any time up and until the examination date.
  • CANCELLATION:
    • CANCELLATION REQUEST:
      • Will be considered if notice of cancellation is given in writing at least five weeks before the examination date. An administration fee of 25% will be applicable for any such cancellation.
      • No refunds will be due if cancellation notice is not given within the 5-week notice period stated above.
      • The exams manager will consider extraordinary circumstances on a case-by-case basis, but the final decision will remain with the exam Centre management, which will be final and binding.
      • Candidates who apply for a refund on the abovementioned terms and conditions must submit a written letter, signed and addressed to the examination department. The letter should contain their bank details and proof of their bank account if they qualify for a refund.
      • The exam center reserves the right to cancel an examination paper if less than three students are registered for a specific exam. Candidates will be refunded in full in such unlikely instances.
  • EXAM MATTERS
    • STATEMENT OF ENTRY AND IDENTITY DOCUMENTS:
      • EXAM DAY:
        • No candidates will be allowed to enter the exam venue without a valid STATEMENT OF ENTRY and a valid IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENT/CARD. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
        • Private candidates MUST bring a copy of their ID or Birth Certificate with a passport-size photo to the exam venue if not submitted before.
        • Candidates can request a  duplicate copy of the statement of entry to be printed before an exam at R25.
        • Private Candidates and LIA school candidates will receive their SOE via their chosen e-mail address.
        • Candidates must ensure e-mail addresses remain operational and confirm any changes in writing to the EXAMS MANAGER.
  • CAIE CONCESSIONS
    • The exam manager must receive written requests for extra time concessions at least 30 days before the first exam.
    • The report must:
      • Provide a clear statement of the Candidate’s disability.
      • Clarify how the disability justifies special arrangements.
      • Be in English to be considered.
      • Be an original document bearing the name, relevant qualification(s), and signature of a recognized medical practitioner.
      • Cambridge has the final decision on whether to grant the special needs request, and the outcome will be relayed to the applicant.
      • An additional fee will be levied for invigilation with any particular concession.
  • EXAMINATION VENUE, TIMES, AND KEY TIMES RULES AND REGULATIONS
    • EXAM TIMES AND CAMBRIDGE KEY TIMES
      • AM Session Key Time – 11:00
      • PM Session Key Time – 15:00
      • Candidates must announce their arrival at the exam venue’s main reception at least 60 minutes before the advertised starting time.
      • No candidate can leave the exam venue before the Cambridge key times and must remain under Full Centre supervision per the exam manager’s or invigilator’s instructions.
      • Cambridge sets exam dates and cannot be changed for whatever reason.
    • EXAM VENUES
      • Candidates must ensure they are at the correct venue per the exam timetable.

  • ATTENDANCE AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
    • LATE ARRIVALS:
      • Regarding the 2023 Cambridge Handbook: “The exam Centre can decide whether to allow the candidate to take the exam.”
      • Due to load shedding, faulty robots, and traffic congestion, students should add additional time to their journey to the examination venue.
      • If a Candidate arrives late for any examination, no matter the reason for being late, and the exams manager allows the Candidate to write the exam, a penalty fee of R50 will be levied for every 5 minutes the Candidate is late from when the exam started.
    • Candidates MUST be dropped off and collected from the Dainfern exam center for theory and practical exams.
    • No loud music or noise disruption is allowed when exam candidates are dropped off at the campus.
    • Candidates with their own transport MUST present a copy of their valid driver’s license to the exams manager.
    • A fully operational coffee shop on site sells food and drinks and emergency examination stationery, including calculators, batteries, pens, etc.
  • AS LEVEL SCIENCE PRACTICAL EXAMINATIONS
    • LEWIS CAMPUS:
      • All practical Science exams are split into two exam sessions.
      • Candidates will be informed which session to attend and cannot change from one session to another.
      • Candidates writing during the am session one must remain under full Centre supervision until 11:00 Key Time.
      • Candidates writing during the pm session one must stay under full Centre supervision until 15:00 Key Time.
      • No candidate will be allowed to partake in a Chemistry practical exam without wearing their own safety glasses and lab coat.
      • Lab coats and safety glasses can be ordered and paid for through LIA.
      • No candidate can attend a practical Chemistry exam wearing open sandals/shoes, and the Candidate’s legs must be covered in totality with a cotton garment.
    • FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE
      • The exam Centre’s SHUTTLE SERVICE will Transport Candidates from the Junxion exam Centre to the Lonehill practical Centre and back to Junxion Centre. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO CANDIDATE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE Lonehill Practical Centre if they are not using the free shuttle service.
      • No candidate will be allowed to be collected or be dropped off at the Lonehill practical exam Centre by family members, uber, taxi, walking, or own transport.
      • This arrangement replaces all previous transport arrangements and will be strictly enforced. No exceptions will be allowed.
      • Any candidate dropped off or fetched at the Lonehill Exam Centre for whatever reason will incur a penalty of R250 for each incident.
      • IMPORTANT: Please ensure that the candidates arrive at our Dainfern campus NOT later than 90 minutes before any practical examination to ensure that they board the inter-campus shuttle timeously.
  • NOTICE TO CANDIDATES – GENERAL EXAMINATION RULES AND REGULATIONS:
    • CANDIDATES MUST:
      • Provide their stationery (pencils, erasers, pens – blue or black ballpoint, calculator, ruler, etc.)
      • ENSURE ALL STATIONERY IS KEPT IN A CLEAR ZIP LOCK BAG – NO PENCIL CASES ARE ALLOWED IN THE EXAM VENUES.
      • Bring spare pens and new batteries for calculators.
      • Bring complete maths sets (protractor & compass) and a 30 cm ruler in a clear plastic bag. Math sets in containers other than a clear plastic bag will not be allowed in the exam venue.
      • Remove calculator covers before entering the exam venue.
      • Clear all scientific calculators before entering the exam venue.
    • Calculators cannot have:
      • graphing capabilities
      • programmable functions
      • information retrieval capabilities
    • Candidates must bring their plastic water bottles to the exam venues. Only clear (see-through) plastic water bottles are allowed in the exam room (No glass-colored bottles and no labels).
    • No Electronic Devices, i.e. Cell Phones, Smart Watches, are allowed in the exam room.
    • Dangerous Items: Candidates (irrespective of if they are licensed firearm holders, are not allowed to attend any exam with any weapon in their possession. If a candidate brings any weapon into the exam venue, they will be excluded from the exam without any reimbursement of exam fees.
    • Banned/illegal substances according to the South African School’s Act or smoking/ vaping is strictly prohibited on the exam Centre property.
    • Please note that any administrative changes in venue transfers, liaising with Cambridge due to last-minute exams not being written, or changes to the statement of entry details after the exam registration period will incur an administration cost of R750-00 per incident.
  • DRESS CODE FOR EXAMINATIONS
    • LIA students must wear full school uniforms.
    • Private candidates must dress appropriately:
      • No shoestring tops, bare midriffs, offensive logos, or slogans.Skirts and shorts must be of an appropriate length (a maximum of 7cm above the knee and no high heels.
    • Undergarments are to be worn at all times and may not be visible.
  • DISCLAIMER:
    • You agree that your child/ren will attend the advertised 2023 October/November CAIE exam series at Cambridge Exam Center ZA253, under the supervision of the Lonehill International Academy Examinations department. Lonehill International Academy staff members are responsible for caring for Candidates during the examination and full center supervision, when applicable. It is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian/Candidate to ensure the safe arrival to and departure from the examination venue as per the time indicated on the timetable.
    • The Candidate’s personal information will only be used for internal purposes of Lonehill International Academy and registration with Cambridge International. Lonehill International Academy is committed to delivering examination services according to the rules and regulations set by Cambridge International. The Cambridge exam Centre, ZA253, cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond its control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, canceled, or delayed, every effort will be made to resume regular services as soon as possible.
    • Should your child/ren suffer from an illness during the exam period, Lonehill International Academy endeavors to contact the next of kin urgently. It should be noted that the school has contracted with Emer-G-med to supply free medical emergency assistance on-site. Candidates are advised to bring copies of their medical aid details with them if required at any time.
