Lonehill International is a progressive, contemporary and independent Cambridge International school, which has delivered exceptional education from Early Learning to stage 13 ( AS/A-levels) for more than 10 years.
Our holistic learning programs are second to none, led by a team of exceptional educators who challenge and maximise the potential of each and every learner. We are constantly searching for latent academic potential with the aim of making a real difference in a child’s life.
Lonehill International is a place where challenge and choice create opportunities for every student to discover who they are meant to be. A leader in education, our School has built an outstanding reputation for excellence, enabling students to develop with confidence and independence. World-class learning programs, state-of-the-art facilities and an extensive Cambridge International program inspire each student to achieve their best in the classroom and beyond.
Lonehill International started as a small home school in 2006. Derick and Retha van der Schyf spearheaded this parent initiative to find a suitable alternative to the GDE and IEB curriculums in South Africa. After extensive research the world-renowned Cambridge syllabus was chosen to educate the learners of Lonehill International.
The passion and motivation of the Directors and fellow parents and students were instrumental in securing a quick and steady growth in student numbers. The school started out as a Secondary school, offering tuition in the Cambridge curriculum from Check point level, IGCSE and up to AS/A levels. This is equivalent to grade 8 to grade 12 in the local school arena in South Africa. The Cambridge A level curriculum allow students to proceed to grade 13, post matric, which is equivalent to 1st and 2nd year University levels.
Lonehill International is registered as a Private Independent School with the Gauteng Department of Education EMIS number JE 700 400 611. It is also registered with Cambridge as an International school, registration number ZA253, which is affiliated with 10500 international schools in 165 countries.
Lonehill International is an endorsed member of the Association of Cambridge Educators in Southern Africa (ACESA). Lonehill International celebrates diversity and enterprise. We encourage our students to harness their independence by using a contemporary learning structure. We believe that because each learner is different, their learning program should be flexible to meet each of their needs. We think beyond our front gates and offer global opportunities to our students, with access to a leading Internationally acclaimed education program.
“To educate is to make an intervention into the lives of others. When we intervene, we do so with certain assumptions about the value of what we are doing and why. Building students’ capacity for future readiness is a moral-ethical learning endeavour and one that cannot be left to chance.
To achieve this, Lonehill International promotes a progressive, contemporary community of education specialists, committed to providing a personalised high quality Cambridge International curriculum, to enable lifelong learning for every student. We are future focused and committed to inspiring our learners and equipping them with the values, knowledge and skills to be ready to make their mark on the world and an ever changing society.”
