A LEARNER FROM LONEHILL ACADEMY ACHIEVES TOP RESULTS IN OUTSTANDING CAMBRIDGE LEARNER AWARDS
Jessie Badham, a student at Lonehill Academy since 2014, gained the highest mark in the world in the Cambridge AS level (Year 12) November 2015 Cambridge International Examinations, for the 8695 English Language and Literature syllabus.
Jessie also scored the highest mark in South Africa for Business Studies at Cambridge AS Level in the same examination period.
Jessie’s hard work, consistent focus, and wide reading clearly paid off, allowing her to outperform thousands of other candidates in Cambridge Schools around the world – an achievement made all the more noteworthy by the fact that she was only 15 years old at the time. She has certainly set the bar very high for future AS candidates in the school and, indeed, the country.
This is, without question, an achievement to be proud of, and Lonehill Academy is beyond proud to have played a part in it. The Lonehill Academy staff congratulate Jessie on her absolutely fantastic achievement, and wish her continued success in all of her endeavours.
Mr. Derick van der Schyf, Director of Lonehill Academy said that the awards recognised talent, dedication, and commitment, and congratulated Jessie as well as the other learners, staff, and teachers at Lonehill Academy who have worked so hard to achieve tremendous success in the Cambridge International Examinations.
Of course, special congratulations and thanks are due to Jessie’s parents, Mark and Kerrin Badham, for their unfailing support and constancy which facilitated this outstanding achievement, and for the excellent foundation that they gave her as they home-schooled her through her junior years.
Mr. Mark Barber, Cambridge Senior Schools Development Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa, said: “It is extremely rewarding to congratulate Jessie and her teachers who have worked so hard to achieve tremendous success in Cambridge Examinations”. The results are a reflection of the enormous talent in South Africa, not only amongst learners but also within the teaching profession.
